Sorry about the lack of posts... been playing the Wii too much.
Here's my brief overall initial impressions of it.
Grapics: 6/10 - Not so great, slightly better then the Gamecube, so similiar to the XBox (not the 360)
Controls: 8/10 - 9 for innovation, but only a 6/7 for it's accuraccy, but most of that is probably due to software development. I've played some games that have good motion sensing and other games where there's a lot to be desired.
Fun Factor Solo: 7/10 - As with most nintendo consoles, the good solo games are the big Nintendo names, like metriod, zelda, mario, etc. They released Zelda at lauch which is a very good game, but other then that, the pickings are slim.
Fun Factor Party: 9/10 - A very good party game console. I've had none gamers come and try it out and they love it. Nintendo probably makes the best party games as well. Can't wait until Mario Kart and Super Smash to come out.

Played ball hockey saturday with real sticks. Was finally able to score some goals.
Played ball hockey on sunday with those stupid plastic sticks... no goals.
So at the sunday game (rec league), I was fishing around the net for rebounds, and one popped free, but apparently the ref yelled "Goalie's ball".
I didn't hear, so i took the ball and tried shooting again, after trying to jam the rebound in, the goalie grabbed the ball.
Then their Defenseman shoves me and yells "don't do that!"
Now, 2 years ago, maybe even 1 year ago, I would have shoved back and things would get nasty. But this time, I only looked at him, then looked at the goalie and asked if he was alright, then I walked away.
The dude eventually apologized to me during the half. But my team was shocked at my reaction. I guess I just don't see any point of getting into an altercation. It was a gradual process, it's hard to be the better man in those situations. Oh well.

In desperate need for some new reading material, I checked the current and previous Hugo Award winners.
The hugo award goes to best novel (among other categories).
Here's the link to the winners. Hugo Award
So I picked up this year's winner, The Spin by Robert Charles Wilson.
Awesome book, finished it in one day.
Also picked up Speaker for the Dead. The sequal to Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card. Both books are excellent. They both won the Hugo awards in 86 and 87.

Got my hair cut by a really cute hairdresser today. It was a cut-a-thon for raising money for brest cancer.
I didn't know about it, I just called because I really needed a hair cut. But it was cool, since all proceeds went to charity.
But yeah, so this girl was really cute and we talked the whole time. Unfortunately I didn't hear her name when she introduced herself at the beginning. Then I felt too embarrassed to ask her name again after the fact, which turned out to be an error because I couldn't ask for her number.
But really that's my excuse for not asking her number, because I was actually too chicken.
*hangs head*
oh well, I'll just book my next haircut with her.
"I'd like to book an appointment. I don't remember her name but she's a short skinny asian girl?"

mmm, not sure what to post.
settled in at the new place. most things are routine now.
i'm taking a course for financial planning. if i take all 4 that are offered i can then take the CFP designation.
wouldn't that be odd on my business card?

wow, over a month between updates.
I'm fully moved in for my place.
After hitting the bottom of my bank account I have a bed, blinds, lots of kitchen stuff, HDTV with a PVR, BBQ and a kickass computer.
Notable things that I'm missing.
Bedside table
End Tables
Book/Media Selves
Comfy Couch
Coffee Table
somebody asked me if I had coasters, i go "no, because I have no tables for them"

Here's why I wont' be cheering for the oilers. I hope they lose to Buffalo/Carolina
Watching Game 6 vs SJ at a pub in edmonton. In the last minute the whole pub starts chanting.
"Calgary Sucks" and "Fuck the Flames"
one, they're not even playing calgary.
I guess Edmonton is really a blue-collar town while calgary is white-collar.

Long delay in posts again. Sorry was busy watching the playoffs.
Flames are out and the Canadiens are out. :(
Oilers and Senators are in the 2nd round but looks like the Senators won't make it through barring a miracle.
Edmonton has to win the next game though, down 2-1.
Haven't gotten my possesion date yet, but if it's after July 1st, I get my 1% GST back. So I'm hoping for a later possesion.

Busy week,
Signed Mortgage Papers (4.5% at 5 years, fixed) woot
Finally got SLB business cards.
Submitted my first business proposal.
Went snowboarding, fell on my ass a lot, can't sit on the toilet
Played poker, got lucky and won $100
Saw V for Vendetta, pretty good movie. I love Natalie Portman.
Looked at condo prices again... it's sick. 400k min for a new 2 bedroom + 2 bath apartment in downtown.

Alright, so you probably heard by now the controversy surrounding the cartoons of the prophet mohammed.
2 local newspapers have published it. 1 is a jewish paper, it published some of those cartoons as well as anti-jew drawings. I believe their point was that this happens to everybody so why riot and cause violence?
Anyways, I think any newspaper has the right to publish these cartoons. I don't think they should be gagged nor reprimanded. Personally in this case, I think they should publish so people can see what's going on and why so many people are rioting.
On saying that, I'm not sure if I could say that if those cartoons were targeting something I believe in. But would I be rioting? Again, I can't say for sure until it happens.

Hmm, I'm finding it harder to post things for some reason.
Not really busy, but I'm not on the computer as much at home.
Tax season is coming up. I recommend doing it as soon as you get all your receipts so you can get your tax refund.
$400 cheques for Albertans are coming in too. Mine going straight to the apartment savings.
I saw this nice leather L shape couch at the Bay for $2000. I'm considering it.

Sorry for the lack of posts. I've been busy with the move among other things.
So today is vote day.
I won't be voting for 2 reasons. The reasons being dependant on each other.
The first reason is I know that the Conservatives will take all of Alberta's seats except for 2. (1 in edmonton, and 1 in calgary (see Rob Anders))
The 2nd reason is that popular vote does not count in the election.
So they lie when they say every vote counts. That is not true when your riding is won in a landslide.
Let's say in my riding, the end count is 1000 PC votes, 200 Liberal, 100 NDP. That's 799 wasted PC votes, because these votes aren't counted anywhere else but in your riding. Nevermind that the Liberal and NDP votes goes to waste as well.
Canada is wondering why there's so much voter apathy. Well, count popular vote and you'll see voter apathy drop.
Everybody knows the election is won in the East. By the time BC votes, it's already decided who's going to win. The polls are closed in the East and BC workers are just getting home.
Elect the Senate. That will get more people out. Better then the PM picking his friends to be in the Senate and having access to the Gold Pension Plan.
Anyways, enough of my rant.
Go vote, or not. I don't really care, your vote is wasted unless you're in a riding with a close race. (ie: edmonton, liberal won by 700 or so votes last time)

I'm putting spaces in my posts so that it is readable now until Flo fixes the background picture.
Well, sorry for the long Hiatus.
It's been a very busy christmas time for me.
Here's the rundown, mostly good stuff.
Christmas Bonus from Work
Got another Raise
Got to spend time with my sister over the holidays.
Moving into a new house. (bigger and better) (don't ask)
Condo is still slated for May/June
My mutual funds are doing quite well, enough to make a difference when I move out.
Ate lots of Sushi over the holidays (Thank you Wa's)
Went to 2 flames games over the holidays, 1 loss and 1 win. The loss was with a hot date, the win was with my sister. Go Figure
Got new glasses. Getting used to wearing them (basically my first time)
Everything is good, I'm content. Some things I wish were different but you can't have verything.
