Haven't posted in awhile.
So the company I work for SLB has just made their 2nd round of cuts. I find some of the layoffs riduculous and some justified. But i do find the whole situation stupid.
Our company is posting record profits that are beating analysts' forecasts and yet we're doing these layoffs. "trim the fat" is the comment, but if you're trimming the fat and not attempting to replace them with quality people, then all you're doing is downsizing.
I'm scared to think of what's going to happen if the market actually hits a downturn. In this case they are "proactive" in cutting and anticipating the downturn. Not sure if that's the best strategy to go with.
