crap, my sennheisers are officially broken. PXC-250 . They still work for playing music but the noise reduction doesn't work anymore. Sigh.

That's what I get for buying it off Ebay and thus no warranty.

i am getting someone to get me a pair of cheap (eqv. 30 bucks) of panasonic canelphones from Hong Kong. no active noise cancelling but the tight fitted plug should filter out a lot of noise... will see how that works.

Yeah, I noticed that the headphones cancels more noise by itself then the ear plugs. So I think if you don't mind big headphones, those will work for cancelling noise.
